SLAC-ers Loi and Nathan
have just posted their first draft notes taking while blogging a San
Francisco mayoral candidates debate at the city’s School of the Arts
high school. The two leading candidates did not show and someone
suggested that explained the absence of the press. Absence of the
press? Silly goose - the high school blogging press was there! Look for
some analysis on their blog pages later today.
“To prepare for Ed Blogger this is the ongoing list of hotels around Galileo Academy: You can find most of these hotels online at the San Francisco Convention Center:Marina District and Fishermans Wharf.” [NathanE News] [edBloggerSF2003 News]

It appears to be so: “Today was another banner day in George Bushs quest to bring honor and integrity to the White House,” Lieberman said. “If he wanted to prove he has trouble leveling with the American people, mission accomplished.” [via Yahoo News]

Terry Eilliot points to the Washington Post: “Since the end of the Vietnam War, presidents have worried that their military actions would lose support once the public glimpsed the remains of U.S. soldiers arriving at air bases in flag-draped caskets??? To this problem, the Bush administration has found a simple solution: It has ended the public dissemination of such images by banning news coverage and photography of dead soldiers’ homecomings on all military bases.” George predicted George.[Tellio]

“There are people who would perhaps call me a dilettante, because it
looks as though I’m having too much fun. I have never been convinced
there’s anything inherently wrong in having fun.” - George
Plimpton
One of our SLAC-er staff photographers has opened a satellite
blogger.com site. Some cool photos in there for your viewing
pleasure. This notice, btw, does not constitute an organizational
endorsement. Ahem.
Call your airline! Contact the hotel! Schmooze your principal or supervisor! Hell - take some sick leave if you have to.
Come to San Francisco for edBlogger 2003 -
November 22, 23, and (maybe) 24.
It’s officially on - online and on
the calendar. Click the headline to contribute
to its evolving design and get the details for attendance. We’re
running way late with this announcement and with preparations. Those of
us who are eBN members and work in k-12 public education don’t see such
descriptions as problems; they’re the “condition of things.” We
thrive on short timelines, “seat of the pants” planning, and absolutely
zero budget lines. Blogs, in their own ways, seem to support just such creative adaptibility.
So get on out here. Like public education, it’s cheap, valuable, and an
investment in the future. Besides, the Emerald City is off the hook.
And it the whole thing bombs, “No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.” [ebnWL News]
