Old brains get tired in all kinds of languages

even figure out the thermostat. It’s beyond me and too much like a cell
phone. Anyway, aren’t you in the nth time zone? Do they have time in
China?” Well, yes, but it’s more crowded than our time. And older too.
Our hosts have wined and dined us for the last two nights. The
Shanghai-style meal at the former British Concession was extraordinary.
So it’s been decided - if I can eat like that every night, I’ll come
back summers to refresh my Mandarin, despite the heat. At my present
level of stuttering, every meal is exhausting. A fifty year old + brain
strains at its lost abilities.
