Triumph of the meaninglessly [dis]empowered

The
marriage license works. Gary’s got a 66% savings on his health
insurance as of today. Truth be told, ‘domestic partners’ status
(available since 1995) would have had the same monetary effect. We just
never prioritized it. Creatures of our political piques, the
“middle finger to Bush” wedding thing got us off our butts.

But today, such slight and effortless assumption of privilege
disquiets. Who co-resident on this globe doesn’t AT LEAST  deserve $100 per month health
coverage at Kaiser?

If you knew Kaiser, you’d answer without hesitation,  “No one!”

We all deserve it all, don’t we?

Of course, we all can’t possibly receive it. [Just wait till everyone in China
has a car and an air conditioner!] Gary Snyder said somewhere along the
line that the planet’s carrying capacity is about 1/10 of its
present human population.  (Quote from 1970? ‘80? ‘90? - Tick tock, tick tock.) The best
thing about being queer, for a little while longer at least, is BEING
QUEER
: odd, out of the loop, disenfranchised, sequestered, different,
disrespected, watched, disparaged.

Unwelcome, like most of us feel
about the 90% of the rest of us.

But enough dour dyspepsia, eh?  It’s fecund Spring!. Have another glass of
wine! Start another insouciant adventure of international flight! Pro-create another
un-draftable heir to the family throne!
